Information about our Public Lectures & Events

The Stockwell Centre has traditionally hosted a series of very successful and affordable annual open Public Lectures, at which nationally-known speakers have presented on current psychodynamic themes.

In the past we have had lectures delivered by Professor Jeremy Holmes, Professor Joy Schaverien and Dr Phil Mollon.

Our recent Lecture, held on Friday 13th October 2023, on the topic of Attachment, Food and Identity was a great success. Our guest speaker Linda Cundy, an attachment-based psychoanalytic psychotherapist, author and trainer, gave an absorbing and multi-faceted talk, replete with illustrative case material and witty anecdotes. There is a great deal of literature on eating disorders, but little has been said on how our relationship to food, seen through the lens of attachment, can help therapists gain a valuable insight into their clients’ inner world.

The event made an interesting aspect of psychoanalytic thinking highly accessible and relevant to a wide audience.

Going forward, we hope to find other speakers who can also deliver engaging and informative perspectives on psychoanalytic therapy.
